Come celebrate International Blues Day with 5 great bands at the LA SummerFest in Towsley Canyon. This year's theme is "Blues In The Schools"
The Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society is reaching out to raise money for the reincarnation of the Santa Clarita Valley "Blues In The Schools" program. We will be promoting "Blues Heritage" style music in our local high schools. Blues happens to be an old, historic American cultural music form that is the basis of popular modern music. The goal of the society is to find and train our local youth in blues music and gather enough talent to form a youth band. We would love to send an SCV Youth Band to Memphis, Tennessee in 2019. They would be representing of our great valley in the IBC Worldwide Blues Competition. Just one of many projects aimed at "Keeping the Blues Alive".
In conjunction with the "Sons" of the American Legion, we host a monthly Open Mic show featuring young local talent. This monthly event held at the "Mess Hall" in the Legion building has spawned the desire to resurrect the "Blues In The Schools" program. The 2017 Local Youth School Guitarslinger Contest also comes from that same program. With the Santa Clarita Blues Society taking the lead and the LA SummerFest leader David Stears support, this should be a great program.

These 5 bands will be laying down grooves from 4:30pm till 10pm with the 2017 Youth Guitar Slinger Contest at 6:15 that you won't want to miss!
